Heather Johnston is an award-winning journalist and communications professional with hands-on experience in design, multimedia storytelling, brand governance, and content strategy. She graduated from Mount Royal University with a Bachelor of Communications in Journalism and Digital Media, earning a 3.84 GPA and a strong foundation in media, digital communications, and content creation.
Heather served as the sole in-house designer for one of the world’s largest diamond producers, leading a comprehensive redesign of corporate communications materials and transforming creative concepts into polished, strategic visuals that strengthened brand identity and messaging.
She has also worked as a journalist for the Calgary Journal, reporting on current events with engaging storytelling through written work, photography, videography, and data visualization. Her article Breaking Through the Silence won a certificate of merit from World Press Freedom Canada, and will be officially announced April 28, 2026.
Additionally, Heather developed flagship event branding and communications for a recurring major North American diamond industry event, created compelling content for wellness brands, and supported nonprofits in developing social media strategy.
